From: American Association of Performing Arts Educators
We, as educators in the performing arts are fortunate to be in a "business" which is entertaining and fun.
At a higher level we know that live performance is a training ground for our youth to build poise, learn teamwork and gain a much deeper understanding of the world.
But at its highest level stands the stark reality of an empty, brightly lit stage that each per-forming arts student must confront ~ alone. Only the skill gained through self disciplined work, and the courage based on that confident self-understanding, can carry each through that transforming frontier. To see young students backstage mustering up the courage, going into the light, rising above their fears to perform and returning validated and jubilant, is an honor to behold. That is what we as performing arts educators do. It is in this spirit that we invite your students and your children to the London 2012 Invitational.
